Engagements

Bay Area Engagement Photographer

I love the opportunity to take engagement photos with my couples! It’s one of my favorite parts of the process. Not only is it helpful for my clients for things like “Save-The Dates”, formal invitations, wedding guest books or reception decor - but it is also a great chance for us to get to know and to get comfortable with each other before the wedding day. I love the chance to learn how my couples laugh together, how they interact and most importantly, to learn more about their story as a couple.

An engagement session helps me to document your wedding day more successfully as it allows me to show up fully equipped as a vendor, with the care and personal touch of a friend :) Additionally, for some, getting your photo taken can be an intimidating experience! An engagement session is the absolute best way to get more comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day, and I take pride in the feedback I’ve received from some of my more apprehensive clients about how much the engagement session helped them to relax in front of the camera on their wedding day.

My process

Unless you are a professional model, the idea of being in front of a camera might be intimidating for you! If I can be unprofessional for just a quick second - I honestly believe the thing I’m best at as a photographer is making my couples feel comfortable. One of the most common things I’ll hear from my couples at the beginning of our process together is, “We’re so awkward in front of a camera! Will you tell us what to do?”.

The answer is two-part: 1. You’re not awkward! and 2. YES, I’ll do everything I can to help you feel like YOU. Whether getting in front of the camera is a walk in the park for you or a brand new experience, one thing I’m certain of is this - we will have a great time together. Don't think of this as a photo shoot - think of it as a date between you and your person (and I just happen to be third-wheeling it :)

Another common inquiry I will receive is about choosing locations for a shoot - I love working with my couples on this! During this whole process I want to help you stay true to yourself and what is important to you - and that includes choosing locations that are right for you! I’m happy to collaborate with you (as much as you would like) to find locations that are meaningful for you that will be the perfect setting for your photos. Whether that means going back to the location of your first date, visiting the coffee shop around the corner from your house, or shooting at a location you’ve always wanted to visit together, I want to help you find the right spots for you.

If you’re thinking about whether or not to book an engagement session, I highly recommend it. You won’t regret having more images of you two (in less formal clothes). And I can’t say enough about how much an engagement shoot can help in getting you more comfortable in front of the camera, and for us to have a chance earlier in the process to spend time with each other and get to know each other better.

I've got you covered!

As a photographer, it’s my responsibility to make my couples feel comfortable so they can be truly themselves in front of the camera. I want to help put you at ease so we see your personalities come through in the photos. When your friends and family look at the engagement photos, I want them to recognize the people they see in the photos as the most confident and relaxed version of you.
